Electrode Paste
Soderberg Electrode Paste Cylinders
Carbon electrode paste is essentially a mixture of several kinds of carbon materials, mainly including calcined anthracite(ECA),
calcined petroleum coke(CPC) and graphite powder with coal tar pitch as a binder. It acts as a continuousself-baking electrode in submerged arc furnaces,to produce ferroalloy, calcium carbide, yellow phosphorus, silicon metal, etc.
Electrode paste is added from the top of the electrode column in either cylindrical, briquette or egg shape.During the furnaceoperation, the electrode paste will moves down together with the electrode column, the increasing temperature will cause the paste to be melt and finally be baked, forming to be block of electrically conductive electrode, which will act current conductor, its top will release a electric arc to smelting the furnace charge.
